Sleepy Project Research

Sleepy Project

Live-action shoot (21/1/15)

Tasks: Lighting, set-up and responsible for boom-mic.

Frances, Dec and I went with Mario to film the live action part of the show. We filmed the process of us filming to document our work process. While Mario was busy sorting the shots we needed and directing the child actor who plays Jenny, we set up lighting, helped to clear the set for each shot, held the boom mic and at some points helped with setting up the camera. I've never done any live action filming before but I do have some knowledge of lighting so I helped where I could with that but mainly it was a great learning experience.

Voice recording (22/1/15)

Tasks: Directing, listening out for mistakes

Character building: "Shwizzle" (Deadline 30/1/15)

Tasks: Drawing character to be rigged in CelAction including mutiple views, mouth shapes and controllers (for limber tool).

Mario drew the front view of the Shwizzle rig as a reference for the style and to show the character design. Using this I drew the two side views and two 3/4 views needed for the rig.

Mario made a tutorial for how he wanted us to do the lineart and colouring in photoshop. I also looked at the fur textures of plush toys to help me draw the fluff.

I drew the other views and tried to get them as close to the original front view as I could. I had not drawn a rig in photoshop before so it was a good experience to have and I feel I learnt quickly. It was also good practice for trying to draw in someone else's style. I also researched lip synching and used reference images to draw all the mouth shapes Shwizzle would need based on his lines of dialogue from the animatic.
