Sleepy Project: SFX

Mario composited the shots we had animated into a shorter 1:45 version and gave us the Adobe Premier file to work with. He had already laid the tracks with voice actors in so each of us just had to find and add our own SFX.

These are the SFX I gathered after going through the animation and writing down what sounds I thought it would need. We were limited as we only had royalty free SFX and no time to record our own sound. Nevertheless I found some good ones that I think will work well.

I entered the SFX into Adobe Premier and used it's features to edit the audio volume and add fades/other effects where neccessary.

This is the edit I produced with my added SFX.

Sleepy Project: Self Assessment

Self Assessment

For this project I have:
  • Helped with filming on a live action shoot
  • Auditioned voice actors
  • Helped with recording voice actors
  • Conducted appropriate research to help me with drawing Shwizzle
  • Drawn a character in Photoshop to be rigged in CelAction
  • Animated 5 shots of the episode
  • Drawn additional parts for the special effects
  • Done some video editing
  • Added SFX
With hindsight I would have liked to have done test animations with all of the characters. This way I would have gotten used to the rigs faster and could have pointed out the flaws in the rigs that later caused some problems. I also should have checked with the others how they were drawing mouth shapes as I think the way I have shaded the mouth shapes on Shwizzle looks a little out of place compared to the other characters. If I had more time I would have liked to help more with drawing backgrounds and additional props as I enjoy background work and liked having a go at drawing the smoke for shot 32.

Before this project I had barely worked in Photoshop or CelAction before. I know think my knowledge of Photoshop has greatly improved, along with my digital painting skills in this program. I feel that I picked up how to use CelAction fairly quickly and now understand the program and it's rigging system much more and would definitely want to work with it again. I think some of my animation could have been more on point but this was the first time I had animated to someone else's style before so I had to adapt to that way of working.
